At Torch Help Hub (Torch), we are committed to treating every person with dignity, respect, and compassion. As a Christian charity, our work is rooted in serving others and supporting those experiencing hardship within our local community.

Our Commitment

We recognise that modern slavery and human trafficking are serious issues that can affect individuals and communities across the UK. Although the nature and scale of our work mean the risk of modern slavery within our operations is low, we are committed to doing all that is reasonable and proportionate to prevent exploitation and to respond appropriately if concerns arise.

What We Do

Torch is a charity working through local churches to provide practical support, community connection, and pastoral care to individuals and families facing difficulty. Our activities are local and community based, and we do not operate commercial services.

Our Approach

We seek to prevent modern slavery and exploitation by:

  • Maintaining strong safeguarding practices across all areas of our work
  • Encouraging awareness among volunteers of vulnerability, exploitation, and abuse
  • Ensuring concerns are taken seriously and responded to appropriately
  • Promoting a culture in which people feel safe to speak up and seek support

Safeguarding and the protection of vulnerable people are central to everything we do, and this includes being alert to signs of exploitation.

Our Supply Chains and Partnerships

As a small charity, Torch does not operate complex supply chains. Our engagement with external organisations is limited and typically involves lowvalue, adhoc purchases or services such as venue hire, training, or everyday operational items.

Where we do engage suppliers or partners, we aim to act responsibly and ethically. We give consideration to the reputation and values of organisations we work with and seek, where appropriate, to use UKbased or wellestablished providers. Given the scale of our activities, we rely on proportionate and common-sense checks rather than formal audits, and we avoid working with organisations where there are known concerns relating to unethical labour practices.

Managing Risk

We recognise that heightened risk may arise when working with people experiencing vulnerability. For this reason, safeguarding remains a core priority, including awareness of exploitation and modern slavery. Any concerns are treated seriously and managed in accordance with our safeguarding processes.

Ongoing Commitment

Torch remains committed to remaining vigilant to the risks of modern slavery and to reviewing its practices as appropriate. This statement reflects our current activities and will be kept under review by the Trustees.
