1830s

Info
The Oasis, 21 Baker Street, Reading, RG1 7XT
Sunday

Sunday evenings from 8pm at The Oasis or the Carey Centre (occasionally we meet offsite, please contact the team for details)

The 1830s group gives an opportunity for the young adults in Carey to meet together regularly on Sunday evenings.

Typically, on a Sunday evening, the group meets together to enjoy an informal time of fellowship over tea and biscuits. We also go on a weekend away each year which involves a mix of Bible teaching, collective worship, and exciting activities! Throughout the year there are various ad hoc gatherings to which everyone in 1830s is invited.

If you’re aged 18 to 39 we’d love to meet you – just turn up on a Sunday evening or email us to let us know you’re coming, or to arrange a lift. We’re very informal so feel free to drop in and out as it suits you.

Student Welcome Lunches

Sunday

After each of the first three Sunday morning services of the autumn term, we host Student Welcome lunches. This is an opportunity for you to get together with other students and meet church members who are involved in student ministry; you’ll meet the student team who will give you a feel for what sorts of ministries Carey is involved in, and show how we’d love to bless you during your time at university.

During term time, we organise Student Lunches in the homes of church members each Sunday after the morning service. Student Lunches are an opportunity to connect with the wider church at Carey, for fellowship and food.

United (14-18s)

Info
ChristChurch Tilehurst, Westwood Farm Junior School, Fullbrook Crescent, Reading, RG31 6RY
Sunday

United is our group for 14-18s. We meet approximately every 3 weeks, on Sunday afternoons, for lunch, games, and a Bible study. We want this to be a safe space and an opportunity to ask the tougher questions, or to cover anything that may not have been understood in the morning’s service.

Our aim for this older group is to help show them how they are united with Christ (if they are a believer) and therefore united as a church family. In an age where individualism is honoured and sought out, helping to instil unity and preferring one another over themselves is important. We’d like to create an atmosphere of openness, hospitality, and treating them as young adults as they begin to consider their futures.
