Activity Challenge: together reach 1000km and raise £30,000!
7-13th September 2026
We are challenging ourselves to collectively achieve an extra 1000km of activity made up of lots of ‘10s’. Join us and get sponsored by friends, colleagues, and family to help us reach our goal of £30,000 in support of the Parish Nursing Service and the work of Torch.
Your ’10’ could be:
- Walk, jog, or run 10k
- 10,000 steps
- Swim 10 lengths
- 10 minute seated exercise
- 10 circuits (e.g. in the gym)
- 10 laps (e.g. in the garden or local park)
You might have other ideas! Every km counts towards our goal, as well as boosting your fitness and wellbeing. The key requirement is to take on the challenge and do ’10’ more than you normally would.
Do as many ‘10s’ as you like and get some of the benefits that come with exercise whilst contributing to a good cause in your local community.
Register your interest
It would be really helpful to know how many people are aiming to join our ’10 for Torch’ challenge. If you would like to participate, please submit this form to register your interest and let us know what type of activity and personal target you would like to achieve. We can then send you a reminder closer to the time!
How to make a donation
All our donations are collected via Stewardship. You can also share this link directly with anyone wanting to sponsor you for your ’10s’.
Record your ’10s’
Come back here at the start of the challenge (7th September) to record your contribution to our shared 1000km goal. There will be a form to add your specific activity!
You can submit a record as many times as you like (e.g. daily) or you can keep track of your total and submit the final amount at the end of the challenge.
It doesn’t matter if you haven’t registered your interested by the time the challenge starts –– you can still submit your activity –– but it would be helpful if you are able to let us know in advance (see form above).
Please make sure you read our FAQ’s
Who can take part?
Anyone and everyone! We encourage you to do it together with someone or a group. Set your self a physical goal and a fundraising goal. Challenge yourself but stay within your safe limits and exercise in a safe place.
What are the arrangements for walks organised by Torch on 11th and 12th September?
We are organising a 10km circular walk along the Thames from Pangbourne Meadows to Purley and back on 11th September starting at 2pm and 12th September starting at 10am. Look out for the Torch flag at the starting line. Please come and join one or both of these group activities and have fun exercising together.
How can I take part in the Thames Path Ultra Challenge?
See Ultra Challenge and select your day and distance or join the group from Torch attempting 50km on 13th September!
How will the funds raised be used?
The funds raised will go towards supporting the work of Torch with a first priority being the Parish Nursing Service, thereafter it will be assigned to other priorities in the charity as determined by the trustees.
How will any money raised in excess of the target be used?
Excess funds will be assigned to other priorities in the charity as determined by the trustees.
What happens if we don’t reach the target?
We will have had fun and be better for the exercise along the way but also know that any funds raised will still go towards supporting the Parish Nursing Service and we will seek additional funds from other sources to make up any shortfall.
Will I be insured by Torch?
The only activities covered by Torch insurance will be the organised walks on 11th and 12th of September. All other activities are undertaken at your own risk and Torch cannot be held liable.
